Most people think of poetry as greeting card mush; not something they would want to set down in front of a crackling fire place and read.
However poetry is much more than greeting card
mush. Poetry is stories told in rhyme; Stories of romance, adventure, fantasy, etc., short stories told in verse and rhymes that opens the imagination of the reader and lets the reader fill in the details so each one relates to the story in their own way.
Where novels give a more descriptive view of characters, places and events, poetry leaves the minor details up to the imagination of the reader. The writer tells the story, the readers imagination gives them their own mental picture of the story as it plays out in their mind.
Poetry challenges the imagination;
do you want to challenge your imagination?
